After nearly three years, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz
and Pete Wentz want out of their marriage.
TMZ reports that Simpson, who married the former Fall Out Boy bassist at her parents', filed documents in LA County Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of their split.
The singer-actress, who has a 2-year-old son, Bronx, with Wentz, is seeking primary physical custody of the child in addition to sharing legal custody with her ex. The pair released a joint statement to PEOPLE that asked for privacy and stressed their commitment to their son.
"After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," the couple said through a spokesperson. "We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our No. 1 priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives."
But according to TMZ sources, Pete’s behavior was the reason Ashlee filed for divorce.
“It’s really all about Pete’s erratic behavior.” the source said, also adding that no third party was involved and “she really wanted out.”

I'm actually kind of surprised! I mean, I wasn't sure if it was true love forever... but it was a short marriage with a small child. The sad part of this story is that I saw it just as I was getting my marriage license with my soon to be hubby. Boo!
I was kinda surprised by this. I figured it wouldn't have been so soon at least.
