Rutger’s defensive tackle Eric LeGrand has been paralyzed from the neck down after making a violent tackle at the New Meadowlands Stadium on Saturday October 16, 2010.
He was motionless for seven minutes while medical staff immobilised his neck and placed him on a backboard. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Hospital where doctors performed emergency surgery to stabilise his spine.
There has not been much medical news about LeGrand. Coach Greg Schiano said Monday that he will refrain from giving daily medical updates but will provide information when appropriate. He would not directly comment when asked if LeGrand has experienced any feelings in his extremities or moved any toes or finger since the injury.
While doctors and surgeons have not discussed LeGrand's injury, football players paralyzed from the neck down have walked again.
I'm going to use this opportunity and anybody that is listening or hearing this… your prayers matter and all our prayers matter and that we believe that Eric is going to recover. That is our approach and that is his approach. We are going to take it one step at a time. We are not naïve to the fact that it is a long road. One step at a time we are going to do this thing and we are going to do it as a family. The LeGrand family and the Rutgers football family this is the way we are going to approach it.

Wow that's so unfortunate hope he makes a safe recovery.
I heard a little bit about this on the news but I never heard anything else. I hope he'll be ok!
